For junior doctors, you've told us you want to "stop guessing and get some actual advice" … easier said than done when you've just come off a 12-hour shift.

We recently surveyed 241 junior doctors across Australia to get an insight into their world: the shift work, what they wear, and how they fuel. The responses were raw, funny and, above all, relatable.

A load of Croc?

Footwear can make or break a shift. According to the survey, the clear winner was runners (72%) — practical, reliable and built for speed. Next came the "other" crowd (12%) with niche picks, followed by Birkenstocks (11%) and, trailing but still loyal, Crocs (5%). Comfort wins over fashion, but individuality still sneaks in.

Coffee, coffee and… more coffee

Fuel was a no-brainer. Junior doctors overwhelmingly named coffee as their post-shift pick-me-up of choice. Whether it's a quick hideaway in the RMO lounge or a stolen break in the stairwell, caffeine is the currency that keeps the shifts moving.

Pockets of survival

Scrubs pockets might be small, but they tell big stories. Most were crammed with pens, with snacks and the occasional rogue stethoscope close behind. Proof that sometimes it's the smallest things that keep you going.

The winter struggle

Cold night shift? No problem. Thermal leggings (quietly admitted) and oversized hoodies topped the list of winter shift essentials. These unspoken hacks are the small comforts that helped our doctors get through the long, chilly nights.

Finance leaks and future dreams

Money was another hot topic. Subscription fatigue, impulse spending and (as expected) "too many coffees came up again and again. But when it came to fixing one money thing this year, saving for a first home topped the wish list.

At Credabl, we get it. Life as a junior doctor is chaotic, caffeinated and sometimes costly. That's why we speak your language and connect with you on your terms and time.
