Credabl didn’t start with a traditional business plan. It started with a whiteboard in a dining room and an idea that finance could be better for clients, not lenders.

After more than a decade working in medical finance, Stafford Hamilton and a group of like-minded colleagues who shared his frustration stepped back to reimagine what better could look like. They had each seen the same thing: an industry where the bottom line had become louder than care for the client.

“There were plenty of lenders emerging,” Stafford recalls, “but not many who truly understood the people behind the professions. Doctors, dentists and vets are exceptional at what they do, yet often left without the right support or trusted insights when it comes to money.”

“As the market changed, I wanted to create a safe place,” Stafford says. “Somewhere clients could trust that they were being looked after, not sold to. And somewhere our people could do good work, surrounded by others who genuinely cared.” To build something purpose-led, not profit-led.

That was the spark that became Credabl, a business built not around products but around purpose.

Building something different

The early years were about creating something that felt human. A team that shared values, not just job titles. Stafford calls it “a home for people who don’t fit the mould elsewhere in financial services.”

From the beginning, Credabl has focused on relationships rather than transactions. It’s about understanding clients’ ambitions, supporting them through milestones and celebrating their wins along the way.

As the business grows, so too has its identity. The whiteboard plan evolved into a culture of care, trust and accountability where everyone is encouraged to think differently, test ideas and look out for one another.

“Culture isn’t accidental,” Stafford says. “It’s hundreds of small, deliberate choices. When people feel safe, they do their best work. That’s what makes the difference for clients.”

Recently, being recognised by Great Place to Work Australia as one of Australia's Best Workplaces in Financial Services & Insurance 2026 is testament to the connection between employee experience and client experience.
